Parmazip Privacy Policy

("Parmazip," "we," "us," or "our") is committed to protecting your privacy and safeguarding your personal health information (PHI) in accordance with the Personal Health Information Protection Act, 2004 (PHIPA). This Privacy Policy outlines how we collect, use, disclose, store, and protect your information when you use the Parmazip application (the "App").

1.1 Personal Health Information (PHI) and Other Personal Information

When you create an account, use the App, or contact us, we may collect personal and health information, including but not limited to:

  • Name
  • Email address
  • Phone number
  • Date of birth
  • Health card number (if applicable)
  • Health and medical history
  • Prescription information
  • Details of telepharmacy consultations
  • Payment information (not considered PHI under PHIPA, but still protected)

1.2 Usage and Technical Data

We may also collect limited technical information, such as:

  • Device and browser information
  • Log data (e.g., access times, pages viewed)
  • Location data (with your express consent)

1.3 Cookies and Tracking

We use cookies and similar technologies to improve functionality and user experience. You may modify your browser settings to manage cookie preferences.

2. Consent and Use of Information

We collect, use, and disclose your personal health information only with your explicit knowledge and express or implied consent, as required under PHIPA, unless permitted or required by law. We do not record the audio or video portions of the consultations.

Your information is used to:

  • Provide telepharmacy consultations and pharmaceutical care
  • Manage your prescriptions and medication history
  • Communicate with you regarding services or appointments
  • Process payments (if applicable)
  • Comply with legal, regulatory, and professional obligations
  • Improve and develop our services

3. Disclosure of Information

We disclose your information only to the extent necessary and only with those who require access to provide care or support services:

  • Licensed pharmacists and healthcare providers involved in your care
  • Third-party service providers that support our operations under strict confidentiality obligations
  • Regulatory or law enforcement authorities when required by law

We do not sell or rent your personal or health information.

4. Safeguards and Data Security

Parmazip uses physical, administrative, and technical safeguards to protect your personal health information from unauthorized access, disclosure, or loss. These measures include:

  • Role-based access control
  • Encryption and secure transmission protocols
  • Secure storage with audit logs and monitoring
  • Regular privacy and security training for staff

5. Retention of Personal Health Information

We retain your personal health information only for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes for which it was collected or as required by law, such as record-keeping obligations under healthcare regulations.

6. Your Rights Under PHIPA

Under PHIPA, you have the following rights regarding your personal health information:

  • Access: Request a copy of your personal health information held by Parmazip.
  • Correction: Request corrections to inaccurate or incomplete information.
  • Withdrawal of Consent: Withdraw consent to the use or disclosure of your information, subject to legal or contractual limitations.
  • Complaint: File a complaint with the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Ontario (IPC) if you believe your privacy rights have been violated.

7. Children's Privacy

Parmazip is not intended for individuals under 18 years of age. We do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe that a minor has provided us with personal health information, please contact us so we can delete it.

8. Storage and International Transfers

Your information may be stored or processed in jurisdictions outside Ontario or Canada. We take reasonable steps to ensure that any third parties we engage outside Canada provide a comparable level of protection for your personal health information.

9. Third-Party Services

Parmazip may use trusted third-party services to help us deliver our telepharmacy services such as payment processors, video call platforms, and secure data storage providers. We only share the minimum personal information necessary with these providers, and only for the purpose of delivering your care or operating our platform. All third-party partners must follow strict privacy and security standards that meet Canadian regulations.

10. Updates to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy periodically to reflect changes in legal requirements or our practices. Updates will be posted in the App, and the "Effective Date" at the top of this policy will be revised. Your continued use of the App indicates your acceptance of the updated policy.
